Mantras
Mantras are a word or sound used in meditation. By using a mantra during meditation, we create a vibration in both our body and mind. One syllable mantras are usually referred to as Bija, or seed, mantras and the vibrations are often used to stimulate the chakras. A seed mantra resonates with the wisdom that within one tiny seed is all the knowledge of a fully grown tree. By planting a seed mantra into your consciousness, your soul can awaken. During our meditation on Monday, I introduced the mantra ’Sat Nam’, meaning ‘I am truth’. ‘Sat’ is pronounced like ‘but’ and when you say the ’t’ sound, the tongue should touch the roof of the mouth, not your teeth. This is an easy mantra to say and remember, yet it carries all the wisdom you need: I am truth.
